I started my translation career fairly late in my working life, although I had obtained the linguistic and financial knowledge to understand the texts I translate today in my undergraduate and graduate academic studies.
I became interest in France and its culture in my early adulthood.
After spending my junior year in Paris, I was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University in 1980. I began my studies of finance and marketing at the prestigious American Graduate School of International Management, AGSIM-Thunderbird, where I was granted a Masters in International Management (Bac+5) in 1982.
In 1983, I was hired as Account Executive at Pandick Technologies, where I sold financial and legal publishing, including facilities management services to New York’s leading law firms and investment banks.
In 1985, my partner and I founded DocuPrint, Inc., a small publishing company serving financial, law and communications firms.
In 1994, I was transferred to Paris with a view to developing DocuPrint’s business in Europe. With demand for translation strong, I began serving a variety of clients, including the French Ministry of Transports and Public Works as well as cultural publishers, and gradually moved on to translating marketing texts, annual reports and other financial documents.
At that point, I decided to dedicate myself entirely to the translation field.
In early 1998, I was appointed Head Translator at Euro RSCG Omnium Financial, where I managed the translation of 27 of the CAC 40 annual reports.
Later that year, I accepted an offer from Fortis Securities (then Meeschaert-Rousselle) where I translated technical financial reports on top French and European equities until February 2003 (See list of stocks translated).
At Fortis Securities, my financial knowledge and translation expertise grew qualitatively, thanks to the diversity of translations performed and to my participation in numerous translation and financial training seminars sponsored by Fortis Securities, the Société Française des Traducteurs and EuroNext.
Following my departure from Fortis, I took advantage of the sector recession to deepen my knowledge in financial analysis at London’s Financial Training Company where I reviewed for the CFA exam, including: financial statement analysis, equities, fixed income, derivatives, and macro-economics.
I later continued my language studies at the world-renowned UIMP in Santander, Spain where I was granted the diploma “Español avanzado” in 2003
In early 2004, I launched my activity as a freelance translator serving investment banks, listed companies, fund managers, investors and translation agencies. I have been translating equity research, macroeconomic reports, derivatives reports, investment manager commentaries and press articles (for such companies as Mittal Steel).
